These days, Scott Porter keeps a very full schedule.<\/span><\/p>\n

He teaches at <\/span>MyComputerCareer<\/span><\/a>, an online technical college that prepares students for careers in the IT service industry. He also picks up extra work through the Field Nation platform when he has free time.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWorking through Field Nation helps me stay up-to-date on the latest technology,\u201d he says. \u201cIt gives me field experience with new tech, which I can bring back to the classroom and help my students get the full picture in terms of the skills they\u2019ll need to be successful. I can familiarize myself with field service trends like security settings, SD-WAN, and the increase in wireless access points\u2013\u2013and then I can pass that on to my students.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a real win-win situation,\u201d he adds.<\/span><\/p>\n

Scott is a veteran of the industry. In his 30+ years of IT experience, he has completed jobs for numerous high-profile clients including the National Security Agency and NASA. His background has given him a well-rounded ability to tackle any technology problem head-on.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSolving problems is the most challenging part of the job, but it\u2019s also the most fun. You don\u2019t always know exactly what you\u2019re walking into. You have to prepare, but you also have to be ready to encounter something new.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

This is the type of insight Scott passes along to his students at MyComputerCareer. He also recommends that his students look into Field Nation as a resource for connecting with work opportunities.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve recommended many, many students over the past nine years\u2013\u2013probably hundreds of them. It\u2019s always been a positive experience for my students, which is great to hear, and it\u2019s been a positive experience for their clients as well.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
