In this week\u2019s <\/span><b>Field Intelligence<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> post, we\u2019ll share insights into overall field services health, geographic trends, hourly rates, and fill rates\u2014which all show signs of stabilization.<\/span><\/p>\n<a name=\"volume-jumps-70-percent-since-market-low\" class=\"fldn-table-of-contents-anchor\"><\/a><h2 id=\"volume-jumps-70-percent-since-market-low\"><strong>Volume jumps 70+ percent since market low<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As we described in an <\/span><a href=\"\/insights\/gear-up-for-rebound\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">earlier Field Intelligence report<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, we saw the lowest level of activity on our network during week 15 (the week of April 4), which we believe was the bottom of the market. For the following 10 weeks, work order volume has steadily increased.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Work order volume for the last three weeks has grown more than 70 percent from the market low. In the past week (the week of June 19), volume is only four percent below 2019 levels. This indicates a nearly \u201cnormal\u201d activity level for the first time in several months.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/fieldintelligence-5_images.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-14052 size-full\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/fieldintelligence-5_images.png?_t=1593105820\" alt=\"Weekly posted volume\" width=\"711\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<a name=\"large-states-continue-to-rebound\" class=\"fldn-table-of-contents-anchor\"><\/a><h2 id=\"large-states-continue-to-rebound\"><strong>Large states continue to rebound<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">California, Texas, New York, and Florida\u2014which are the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/248023\/us-gross-domestic-product-gdp-by-state\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">largest states in terms of gross domestic product<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014continue the upward trajectory in work order volume that we reported in our <\/span><a href=\"\/insights\/recovery-on-horizon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">last Field Intelligence report<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/fieldintelligence-5_images4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-14055 size-full\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/fieldintelligence-5_images4.png?_t=1593106178\" alt=\"Week 25 volume by state (map)\" width=\"711\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/fieldintelligence-5_images2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-14054 size-full\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/fieldintelligence-5_images2.png?_t=1593106007\" alt=\"California, Texas, New York, and Florida GDP and year-over-year work order volume\" width=\"711\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">States like New York and Illinois have significantly rebounded in recent weeks. In addition, we see positive year-over-year growth in many states throughout the Midwest and Pacific Coast.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<a name=\"work-order-value-and-hourly-rates-hold-steady\" class=\"fldn-table-of-contents-anchor\"><\/a><h2 id=\"work-order-value-and-hourly-rates-hold-steady\"><strong>Work order value and hourly rates hold steady<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/fieldintelligence-5_images3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-14053 size-full\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/fieldintelligence-5_images3.png?_t=1593105902\" alt=\"Boxplot of Gross WO volume\" width=\"711\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The average value of work orders on the Field Nation network is approximately the same in 2020 as it was in 2019. This is a slight decline of 4.6 percent year-over-year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Likewise, median hourly rates are consistent versus 2019 levels. Hourly rates have increased slightly in work types such as point-of-sale and networking with rates rising approximately <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">11 percent.<\/span><\/p>\n<a name=\"fill-rates-remain-robust\" class=\"fldn-table-of-contents-anchor\"><\/a><h2 id=\"fill-rates-remain-robust\"><strong>Fill rates remain robust<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Current fill rates (which we define as the percent of published work orders that are assigned to a technician) are nearly identical to 2019 rates. Fill rates have remained healthy across the board, even for work orders with payment terms of 7 days or more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To give our community flexibility during the pandemic<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, we recently eliminated cancellation fees, which has not had an impact on the cancellation rate for either businesses or technicians.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Combined, these metrics including strong work order growth, geographic stabilization, consistent hourly rates, and high fill rates bode well for the market recovery.
