The holidays are one of the busiest times of the year for technicians. Work orders are getting posted at a rapid pace and schedules are filling up fast. Here are a few tips to manage your schedule and maximize your revenue potential this holiday season. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/a>

Plan ahead<\/h2>\n

Login to Field Nation the night before to check your schedule and prepare for your upcoming work. Review key areas including location, start time, required tools, and any prep work that may be required.<\/p>\n

Tip: if you often forget to log in to Field Nation the night before, set an alarm on your phone.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/a>

Schedule appropriately<\/h2>\n

As a Field Nation technician, you’re in charge of your own schedule \u2014 but that’s not an excuse to over-book yourself.<\/p>\n

When planning your schedule, take into consideration travel time between work orders to make sure you have enough time to get to each job site. Give yourself a time buffer on each work order in case anything happens during a job that may require you to be on-site for a longer period of time. Additionally, make sure your work orders don’t overlap with any personal commitments.<\/p>\n

Tip: We recommend keeping a 2-hour time buffer between jobs and importing your personal calendar into your Field Nation calendar to see these schedules side by side<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/a>

Communicate cancellations with clients immediately<\/h2>\n

If you are unable to make it to a scheduled work order please report \u2018Remove Assignment<\/em>\u2019\u00a0as soon as possible<\/strong>. The more notice you give, the more time clients have to find a new technician. Read Field Nation’s support article about reporting\u00a0Remove Assignment<\/a><\/em> for additional information and instructions for both app and web.<\/p>\n

After you have reported\u00a0Remove Assignment,<\/em> we recommend that you leave a message for the client within the work order Messages. This ensures that the buyer will be notified in multiple places and showcases strong communication skills, professionalism, and responsibility.<\/p>\n

Tip: If you must cancel a work order, make sure your message to the client is professional.<\/em><\/p>\n

Bad example: I drank WAY too much eggnog last night, sorry I can’t come in today.<\/p>\n

Good example: Ms. Smith, unfortunately, I am unable to complete work order 100001 tomorrow, December 10, due to a family emergency. I appreciate your understanding.<\/p>\n<\/a>
